OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS
Welcome to the Web Site of
TSUNAMI SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL and its electronic, international journal
"SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS" (STH) - published to disseminate the
results of applied and theoretical research on tsunamis and to increase
knowledge about their hazards. The links below and on the left provide
information about the Tsunami Society, on past and future activities and
symposiums, on membership, and directions for the submission of relevant
scientific papers pertaining to tsunami hazards for publication in our
journal. "Science of Tsunami Hazards" is a unique, peer-reviewed journal which has been published continuously without interruption
since 1982, initially in print but subsequently in both electronic and
printed formats.
Also,
SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS has been accepted for
inclusion in the prestigious international academic journal database DOAJ
maintained by the University of Lund in Sweden with the support of
the European Union. All papers published in the last 10 years were
submitted, along with their bibliographic data, keywords and abstracts, to
DOAJ*. The database is being currently updated with similar search criteraia for the 1982-1999 period.
See listing of our journals at the *Directory
of Open Access Journals
Additionally, SPARC Europe and DOAJ
have entered an agreement about introducing a certification scheme for Open
Access journals, the SPARC Europe Seal for Open Access Journals. - for which SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS is now eligible.
All
past and curent issues of the journal, in
electronic format, are archived as a mirror sites at the Los Alamos
National Laboratory's electronic database, ( http://library.lanl.gov/tsunami/
)at the U.S Library of Congress, as well as at the present website. Additioanlly,
all current and past STH papers, along with the article-specific search
criteria for each paper, are presently being archived at THE NATIONAL
LIBRARY, The HAGUE, NETHERLANDS http://www.kb.nl/e-Depot
Recently, EBSCO
Publishing invited the Society to include "Science of Tsunami
Hazards" in their extensive online database. The collaboration -
endorsed by contract - has given the journal additional global exposure and
readership in the databases of 90% of the academic institutions worldwide,
including nation-wide access to databases in more than 70 countries.
